Job Description

NRC Puntland Area Office is looking Livelihood & Food Security (LFS) Officer who will assist the project Coordinator in day to day implementation of the Livelihood & Food Security Project.

Generic responsibilities:

  1. Ensure adherence with NRC policies, tools, handbooks, and guidelines
  2. Implement delegated LFS project activities according to the plan of action
  3. Prepare and develop status reports as required by management
  4. Ensure proper filing of LFS documents according to NRC procedure and policy
  5. Ensure that projects target beneficiaries most in need, and explore and assess new and better ways to assist
  6. Promote and share ideas for technical improvement
  7. Liaise and collaborate with relevant local authorities and other key stakeholders

Generic professional competencies:

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience working as LFS Assistant or Project Officer in a humanitarian/recovery context
  • A University Degree in Business Administration and Community development, Disaster risk management, Agricultural Economics, Developmental Economics, or related field
  • Relevant experience in planning, implementing and following up on livelihood and food security projects such as business plan development, unconditional cash transfers, Safety nets supports, entrepreneurship, and small enterprise development.
  • Previous experience from working in complex and volatile contexts
  • Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities
  • Fluency in English, both written and verbal

Context/ Specific skills, knowledge, and experience:

  • Knowledge of the livelihood context (gaps and needs) in MPCA operations
  • Experience in organizing self-help groups or business groups before the provision of the start-up kits in kind or cash transfers
  • Demonstrated understanding of the cooperatives and small enterprise development policy, cash transferring program practices in Somalia
  • Demonstrated conceptual and analytical thinking skills in areas of economic development,
  • Skilled trainer with experience developing and delivering training to a varied audience, such as project staff, stakeholders, national staff, and authorities
  • Contribute to the  program activity monitoring and evaluation
  • Contribute to proposal and project report-writing and team-building experience and skills

 What We Offer:

Contract period: 1 year, with possibility of extension

Salary/benefits: According to NRC’s salary scale and terms and conditions

Duty station: Garowe
