Gender and Inclusion Coordinator – Hargeisa 15 views

Job Expired

Title: Gender and Inclusion Coordinator – Somali National

Save the Children is the world’s leading independent organisation for children. We work in 120 countries. We save children’s lives; we fight for their rights; we help them fulfil their potential.

We work together, with our partners, to inspire breakthroughs in the way the world treats children and to achieve immediate and lasting change in their lives.

We have over two million supporters worldwide and raised 1.9 billion dollars last year to reach more children than ever before, through programmes in health, nutrition, education, protection, and child rights, also in times of humanitarian crises.

Following a major transition, our international programmes are now delivered through a merged operation with 15,000 staff, managed through seven regional hubs and reporting to a relatively small, central office. We’re changing to become more efficient, more aligned, a better partner, a stronger advocate, a magnet for world-class people and relevant for the 21st century.

Under the general direction and guidance of the Gender Equality (GE), Gender-based violence (GBV), and Social Inclusion Senior Specialist and Disability Inclusion Specialist, the Gender and Inclusion  Coordinator will support gender and Disability mainstreaming across sectors; oversee the implementation of gender-disability related activities with the leading sector’s program managers; conduct GE and Inclusion analyses and consultations; ensure SCI programs are mainstreaming, mitigating and responding to GBV; facilitate capacity building and trainings on gender and disability response and mitigation; develop and agree on actions to address priority gaps on gender and disability programming with the programs managers, and sectors’ technical specialists.

In the event of a major humanitarian emergency, the role holder will be expected to work outside the normal role profile and be able to vary working hours accordingly.

  • Humanitarian professional with a bachelor’s degree in gender, law, disability studies, social work, sociology, psychology, or relevant field, or equivalent qualification
  • Significant professional experience of at least 4 years, including experience working at a management/implementation or technical level on gender, disability-inclusive programs, protection, and GBV mitigation mainstreaming for international NGOs.
  • Excellent understanding of equality, inclusion, gender mainstreaming, women’s economic empowerment, PSEA, and GBV Guidelines in a humanitarian context.
  • Experience working directly with children with different types of disabilities and their families.
  • Experience designing and facilitating capacity building on gender and disability rights and inclusive programming.
  • Hold a solid understanding of the intersection of gender, GBV, and disability with other thematic areas.
  • Strong commitment to capacity building of staff and partners with a willingness to adopt participatory and consultative approaches.

Closing Date will be 3rd May 2023

We need to keep children safe, so our selection process reflects our commitment to the protection of children from abuse. Employment is subject to our Child protection standards including background checks and adherence to our Child Safeguarding Policy
