Human Appeal Somalia Field office programme operations are based in Mogadishu, Gedo region and previously Bai region, with programmatic focus in the sectors of; WASH, Shelter, FSL, Education/Child Sponsorship, Protection, Health and Nutrition.
Position Summary
Overall responsibility of the post holder is to lead and supervise OPD and outreach services of Human Appeal in Kahda, District. By ensuring promotive, prevention and curative services are implemented in static health facility and outreach sites.
Main Job Tasks and Responsibilities
Take the patient’s history, perform examination including obstetrical and gynaecological in the facilities;
Physically review of patients, attend to emergencies and instruct nursing on the required patient care at any given time of the day;
Provide continuous on-job training, mentoring and coaching for nurses and midwives in clinical skills on good patient care;
Ensure that the clinical services at the hospital and an outreach level are of high-quality care;
Carry out the review and patient progress and care;
Diagnose and manage common and emergency surgical, obstetric, and gynaecological and refer those outside his or her skills.
Take in keeping the highest standards and professionalism, ethics and integrity of the health facility teams;
Ensure all data and information is collected, transmitted, and utilized to benefit the patients and service providers as is necessary.
Review of facility data to ensure accuracy in entry into DHIS- 2 to enable accurate analysis of data.
Ensure that the essential equipment and supplies required for good patient care are available, managed well and maintained in good condition;
Organize and facilitate capacity building for staff If any, including on job training, workshops, exchange visits and formal project relate training and other technical support where necessary.
Facilitate any referrals to the patients in critical need; Reproductive health services
Physically review of patients, attend to emergencies and instruct nursing on the required patient care at any given time of the day;
Refer pregnant mother that require emergency medical care e.g. surgeries including Caesarean sections (C-Section).
Provide continuous on-job training, mentoring and coaching for nurses and midwives in clinical skills on good patient care;
Ensure that the clinical services at the health facility and an outreach level are of high- quality care;
Carry out daily supervision in the static health facility and weekly to outreach services. Diagnose and manage common none complicated illness that can be treated in the OPD health facility.
Take in keeping the highest standards and professionalism, ethics and integrity of the health facility teams;
Ensure all data and information is collected, transmitted and utilized to benefit the
patients and service providers as is necessary.
Review of facility data to ensure accuracy in entry into DHIS- 2 to enable accurate analysis of data.
Ensure that the essential equipment and supplies required for good patient care are
available, managed well and maintained in good condition;
Perform any other duties as requested by his/her by health facility in charge and other project team;
Provide daily weekly and monthly report consisting data and narrative report were necessary.
Organize and facilitate capacity building for staff If any, including on job training, workshops, exchange visits and formal project relate training and other technical support where necessary.
Skills and Qualifications
Key Competencies and Requirements
Academic Qualifications: Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery from a recognized University
Minimum of 3 – 5 years’ experience in working in similar interventions in health
programs in hardship environments. Skilled computer word processing Previous experience of similar job
Language; Somali language is mandatory and English for reporting and documentation Any registration with relevant Board (If applicable)

Risks/ Challenges
Short deadlines for submission of Health report Management of work with support of Field Staff. Excellent cross-cultural awareness.
Experience working in security-sensitive environments and enforcement of team security protocols is an asset.
