Reporting to: Senior Orphan Child Welfare Programme Officer
Location: Mogadishu, Somalia
Contract period: 6 months fixed-term contract and renewable depending on availability of additional funding

Human Appeal Somalia Field office programme operations are based in Mogadishu, Gedo region and previously Bai region, with programmatic focus in the sectors of; WASH, Shelter, FSL, Education/Child Sponsorship, Protection and Health & Nutrition.
Job Summary: Orphan Child Welfare Social Worker will be responsible for the day-to-day activities of orphan child welfare programme by providing support to the orphan operations, facilitate good practice and ensuring legal compliance to applicable implementation process of a child welfare interventions in Mogadishu-Banadir
Scope of the Role: Orphan child welfare monitor will be fully engaged in ensuring safe and productive environment for orphans and other children under Human Appeal sponsorship scheme in Mogadishu and will assess and report general living, and learning standard of 360 model of Human appeal sponsored orphan children and also provide advises, awareness and orientation on child rights . Some of the overall scope of the OCW-social worker duties are but not limited to the following:
Programme Support
Orphan child welfare social worker will be fully engaged in ensuring safe and productive environment for orphans and other children under Human Appeal sponsorship scheme in Mogadishu and will assess and report general living, and learning standard of 360 Human appeal sponsored orphan children and also provide advises, awareness and orientation on safeguarding’s.
Assist in generating data for quarterly cases studies after every quarterly disbursement. Assist in maintaining sponsorship orphans’ records in soft and harp copies
Keep track of orphans who failed to attend school and find out factor hindering their process Visiting and collecting orphan visit reports of individual and upload visit report twice in a year
through the system.
Attend and a times represent the child welfare sector in the monthly child protection working
group meetings
Visit orphan children at their families for routine monitoring of their general progress Prepare photos, letters for the baseline data for progress reports and other reports. Updates Bio data online continuously.
Assist Under take seasonal and other Ramadan food distributions for the orphans. Inform guardians/Mothers arrival of their entitlements.
Collection of orphan school progress reports and filing of the same.
Reporting and Representing
Preparation and submission of monthly and quarterly progress reports to the respective people. To participate the clusters for maintaining and promoting a positive image of Human Appeal and
its activities especially child protection clusters.
Provide verbal and written feedback on a daily basis to direct line manager; assist in writing regular narrative and quantitative reports when requested.

Experience working in security-sensitive environments and enforcement of team security protocols is an asset.
Familiarity with the inter agency standing Committee (IASC) guidelines for interventions in humanitarian settings
Key Competencies and Requirements
Bachelor degree in social science, Developmental Studies, Law or any equivalent degree Extensive experiences in working for NGOs or INGOs on developmental field as Child
Welfare/Protection, Social Worker with a maximum of 1-2 years of relevant experience Must have good communication and interpersonal
