Job Summary
Golis Telecom Somalia is looking for an experienced Transmission network engineer, who will provide operation and maintenance toward Transmission equipment’s. The selected candidate will Monitor Configure, Maintain, Troubleshoot, and Report and escalate the higher tier network and system issues. The candidate is expected to work non-working hours (night shifts and late hours) with on-call availability 24 x 7.
Responsibilities
- Designing, Planning, Installing, Configure and Maintenance of Transmission Network systems (Microwave, Fiber optic and Satellite) .
- Prepare daily, weekly and monthly system performance & activities report. .
- Troubleshoot Transmission related Faults and provide technical solutions for different software & Hardware problems arising in the various Transmission Nodes .
- Handle Transmission Network related projects, Tasks and activities. .
- Perform and analyze problems and conduct effective fault diagnosis and system recovery .
- Perform systems backup and restorations when needed .
- Conduct hardware and software upgrades .
- Support Remote Technical teams in troubleshooting transmission links .
- Perform other duties as requested including emergency calls.
Requirements
- Bachelor Degree in Telecom or related Engineering field .
- Good knowledge in Transmission systems (Microwave, Satellite and Fiber Optic) .
- Minimum two years of work experience in telecom or related fields .
- Technical excellence combined with leadership .
- Good experience of Microwave Link Budgets and Spectrum Management .
- Basic knowledge in GSM, 2G, 3G, and 4G .
- Have the in-depth working knowledge of MPLS, L2VPN/L3VPN, MP-BGP, OSPF, BFD, VPN etc. .
- Knowledge of industry best practice for Transmission Networks. .
- Strong data and voice networking background, WAN, LAN, TCP/IP, VOIP. .
- Good problem solver and logical thinker .
- Ability to work under stress and take challenges as they arrive .
- Good knowledge for Fiber Optics cables using appropriate tools ( OTDR, Splicer Machines, Power meter, VFL and Light source) .
- CCNA, CCNP, CFOT, CET or relevant Certifications are highly preferable .
- Ability to climb Towers .
- Capable of prioritizing and managing own workload .
- Capable of working/using own initiative with minimal supervision .
- Ready to work on shift basis in 24/7.

- Excellent English and Somali: verbal and proven written communication skills.
